Frost Advisory in effect for:

• Ottawa North - Kanata - Orléans
• Ottawa South - Richmond - Metcalfe

Frost may destroy fruit crops, vegetables, and other plants.

Wide spread frost is expected. Under clear skies and calm winds, ground temperatures overnight and early Saturday morning are expected to be at or a few degrees below freezing. The exception is for areas very close to the Great Lakes where temperatures will remain a couple of degrees above freezing.
Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.

Weather Advisories for Frost are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.

Snowfall warning in effect for:

• Ottawa South - Richmond - Metcalfe

A heavy snowfall expected tonight.

It may be the first full day of spring, but it's no surprise that mother nature is still in a wintery mood. A potent disturbance currently over Minnesota is expected to carve a path across Southern Ontario tonight with the centre of low pressure likely to cross the Toronto area after midnight.

A period of heavy snow is expected beginning late this evening near Lake Huron reaching the Barrie area shortly after midnight and far Eastern Ontario later tonight. The snow is expected to be very heavy at times with snowfall rates of more than 3 centimetres per hour. Although the duration of snow is not expected to be significant, the accumulation of heavy snow will likely exceed 15 centimetres before it tapers off later tonight near Lake Huron and over Eastern Ontario Saturday morning.

Travellers are urged to use caution tonight into Saturday morning due to visibilities of 200 metres or less in heavy snow as well as significant and rapid accumulation on untreated roads.

15 centimetres of snow on Saturday.

A low pressure system is due to track through Windsor and Toronto Saturday evening and then continue eastward into Quebec. Snow ahead of the system will move into the Huron - Perth and Waterloo - Wellington regions Saturday morning. In Peterborough the snow will begin late in the morning and in Ottawa early in the afternoon. Snowfall accumulations of near 15 centimetres are expected with this system. Snow will end from west to east Saturday night and may continue a few hours into Sunday morning over Eastern Ontario.

A low pressure system over Illinois this afternoon is forecast to track northeastward across the Lower Great Lakes tonight. Snow in advance of this system will spread into Southwestern Ontario this evening, the greater Toronto area overnight, and reach Eastern Ontario by Friday morning. Total snowfall accumulations of about 15 cm are expected for many locales along a swath from Sarnia to Cornwall.

The snow will taper off from west to east Friday afternoon and evening.
